Wendell Dalit, a Filipino-American artist director at Sony Pictures Animation, is weaving his magic into Hollywood’s biggest animated features.
Dalit’s fingerprints are all over the dazzling visuals of “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse,” the Oscar-nominated sequel to the groundbreaking “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.” He also played a pivotal role in bringing Sony Pictures Animation’s first musical, “Vivo,” featuring music by Lin-Manuel Miranda, to life.
Dalit’s journey began in Manila, Philippines, and continued in San Jose, California, where he honed his skills in illustration at San Jose State University. Since joining Sony Pictures Animation in 2014, he’s left his mark on numerous films, including “Smurfs: The Lost Village” and “The Emoji Movie.”
With his talent and dedication, Dalit is not only making waves in Hollywood but also inspiring aspiring Filipino artists around the world. And who knows, maybe his next creation will transport us to a fantastical world inspired by his Filipino roots.
