From 2012-2015, Valerie Chua actively worked as an illustrator for commercial clients in the beauty and fashion industry where her primary subjects dealt with the female form, decorative flora and fauna, and aesthetic. Some of her clients as an illustrator include Clinique, Christian Louboutin, Toblerone, and SK-II.
During her study in New York in 2013-2014, she briefly worked as a studio assistant to artist Erik Jones while doing studio work and exhibitions in Brooklyn Art Space. Her work as an illustrator has been published in magazines such as DPI Magazine Taiwan, Preview Magazine, Designare Singapore, and Rogue Magazine. She has exhibited in the US, Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and the Philippines and has done speaking engagements for Ayala Museum and Graphika Manila in 2016. Today Valerie works as a full-time painter.
