Born and raised in Manila, Philippines from a family of artists, Raine Sarmiento took a degree in Fine Arts major in Advertising. The formal training with a wide variety of media—for both traditional and digital art—had lead the current in her creativity’s stream. Her canoe however, smooth sails particularly on water and oil-based ones, and paddles easy with soft brushes.
Most of her works are composed of the human figure, and are well recognized for their muted and warm color palette. They had been featured in newspapers, magazines, and websites; and were referred to as surreal, whimsical, and sweet by the writers.
Since the surge of her profession as an illustrator, by having a digital work published in a local teen magazine during 2012, her succeeding works have also gained places in local group exhibitions.
In 2014, she introduced her traditional illustration style in a local art catalogue. The benefit of the people’s positive feedback, was her commitment to focus on enhancing the presented medium. A number of her practice pieces have attracted clients from the country and abroad, and invitations to do live art demonstrations and lectures at celebrated art events.
