Cil Flores is a visual artist from Dumaguete, Negros Oriental, who has captivated the art scene with her distinctive style of lowbrow and pop surrealism. A graduate of BS Psychology, her artistic journey is deeply influenced by a childhood steeped in 90s pop culture, including cartoons and video games. This rich tapestry of influences is woven into her art, which she uses as a vehicle to explore emotions and personal experiences.
Flores’s work is instantly recognizable for its rock-like textures, vibrant colors, and the recurring presence of her original character, “Clae.” Through these elements, she creates a visual language that is both playful and profound. Her artistic expression spans various mediums, from traditional acrylic painting and pen and ink to digital art and sculptures.
Since her breakthrough in the Manila art scene, Flores has been a fixture at art fairs and gallery shows, including the Xavier Art Fest and Art in the Park. Her 2023 solo show, “Into the Unknown,” at Metro Gallery, explored her emotions as a full-time artist, while her more recent show, “Welcome to the Jungle” at Secret Fresh Gallery, delved into her experience navigating the bustling Metro Manila art world. Beyond her own practice, Flores is an art advocate who has lent her talents to movements promoting environmental awareness and social causes.
