Arnold Arre is a Filipino comic book artist and writer. He has won National Book Awards from the Manila Critics Circle for his graphic novels The Mythology Class (1999), a four-part action-adventure miniseries that was republished as a special collected edition by Adarna House in 2005 and Trip to Tagaytay (2000), a one-shot future fiction short story. Both were released under his self-owned Tala Comics Publishing.
His other titles include the romantic comedy After Eden (2002) published by Adarna House, the self-published Ang Mundo ni Andong Agimat (2006), and Martial Law Babies (2008), released by Nautilus Comics.

Arnold has been on the illustrators roster of Wisconsin-based Eureka Productions‘ publication Graphic Classics since 2002 where he has contributed art for the Jack London (1, 2), H.P. Lovecraft, Louisa May Alcott and Western Classics issues. He has also been invited as a delegate to the Bucheon International Comics Festival (BICOF) held every year in Bucheon, South Korea twice, in 2005 and in 2010.
In 2004, he and fellow comic book artist Gerry Alanguilan teamed together to work on a retelling of Mars Ravelo’s Lastikman. Gerry wrote the story, Arnold did the character designs, pencils and inks, and Edgar Tadeo worked on the colors. In 2011, Arnold and Gerry would again work together on a re-imagination of another Mars Ravelo classic, Darna.
Darna Lives!
In 2007, writer Jamie Bautista tapped Arnold to illustrate on occasion for his series Cast as well as for a new comic geared for kids titled Private Iris. He designed the characters and worked on the first story arc consisting of 6 issues which were later compiled in a special collector’s bookcase called Private Iris: The Arre Files.
Aside from his comics work, Arnold has done numerous design and illustration jobs for various clients such as The San Miguel Foundation for the Performing Arts and Sony BMG Music Entertainment Philippines. He has also taken part in local and international group exhibits and has had a one-man fantasy-themed show titled Mythos in 2000.
In 2009, Arnold started dabbling in filmmaking and has since produced and directed two short films, Chapter:-One and Kaye for Komiks.
Frustrated with the limitations in static comic book pages, he recently started studying how to bring his drawings to life and this has resulted in a 4-minute animated video titled Andong Agimat: Kanya ang Kalye starring his original character Andong Agimat. The film went on to win two awards at the 7th Animahenasyon Philippine Animation Festival in 2013: Best Animation (Category A) and a Special Jury Prize.
Commissioned by Rock Ed Philippines and the National Historical Commission of the Philippines, Arnold made an animated music video for the Philippine National Anthem Lupang Hinirang, as well as for the Jose Rizal birth centennial commemorative song Kaninong Anino. Kaninong Anino won Best Music Video at the 7th Animahenasyon Philippine Animation Festival.

From February to July 2013 Arnold worked on his debut animated film, the 20-minute short Milkyboy. The film had its premiere at the 25th CCP Alternative Film and Video Awards where it won 1st Prize in the Animation category. It also got the Best Screenplay award at the 7th Animahenasyon Philippine Animation Festival. In March 2014, Milkyboy had its US Premiere at the CAAMFest in San Francisco, California. It also screened in the Sacramento International Film Festival in April and the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival (LAAPFF) in May where Arnold was awarded the Linda Mabalot New Directors / New Visions Award, a juried prize that recognizes the “creative and innovative use of the language of cinema“. The short was also an Official Selection / In Competition Film at the 2014 Golden Kuker-Sofia in Bulgaria and the British Animation Film Festival, jumpstarting its European run.
Arnold also won the Grand Prize in Animahenasyon 2014 for his animated short Lakas ng Lahi, a collaboration with writer Dr. Emil Francis Flores of U.P. Diliman.

After concentrating on animation for three years, Arnold made a comeback in the Philippine comics scene in April 2014 through Rodski Patotski: Ang Dalagang Baby, another collaboration with Gerry Alanguilan. Gerry wrote and conceptualized the story and Arnold took care of the character designs, story visualization, and illustrations. The title was launched at the Summer Komikon 2014 in Pasig City.
