MOUTAI DREAM RED WINE Packaging by Heng Luo and Yi Huang

The world of premium alcohol packaging has a stunning new entry with the Moutai Dream Red Wine Packaging, an A’ Design Award-winning project by designers Heng Luo and Yi Huang. This design is a masterclass in blending deep Chinese heritage with a sleek, modern aesthetic, specifically targeted at high-net-worth individuals and collectors through the exclusive iMoutai app.

A Fusion of Culture and Collectibility

The core inspiration for the design lies in celebrating the legacy of Moutai wine while infusing it with contemporary style and commemorative value. The designers opted for a vivid Chinese Red—a color that resonates profoundly with Chinese culture—combined with classic black for a truly premium and fashionable Oriental look.

The packaging’s most unique feature is the striking cylindrical container that houses the wine bottle. It employs an “ultimate hollowing technique” to create a series of horizontal ridges, invoking the oriental art concept of “reality and fabrication.” This visually arresting structure is designed not just to hold the bottle but to re-express the core cultural symbols of Moutai in an internationally appealing way.

Sustainable Luxury and Thoughtful Details

This isn’t just a beautiful package; it’s a responsible one. The entire package is made with 95% environmentally friendly and biodegradable specialty paper. Advanced production technologies, including hot stamping and UV printing, were used to ensure both environmental sustainability and a high-end, fashionable finish.

Adding a playful touch, the illustration features “Xiao Mao,” Moutai’s mascot, raising a glass, a whimsical invitation to celebrate. From the cinnabar red color inspired by Han dynasty lacquerware to the innovative, ribbed structure, the Moutai Dream Red packaging successfully communicates innovation, luxury, and the exclusive cultural nature of the Moutai brand.
