In June 2020, human lives were threatened by a global pandemic.
And in the Philippines, human rights were in danger too.
Millions of Filipinos in the country and around the world were shut in their homes.
On top of this, freedom of expression was threatened by the Philippine government: a national TV network was shut down, subversives were detained, and an Anti-Terror Law was put into place.

We The Pvblic, a local online news organization, and MullenLowe TREYNA co-designed The Statement Mask—a face mask that offered protection against Covid-19 infection, and took a stand on the current socio-political issues.
The message is simple—never be afraid to make a statement. Protest without fear.
The masks were launched in time for Independence Day, were sold across the metro, and worn during rallies—to protect freedom of speech, and be protected from the virus.
