MOCCI: The first smart pedal vehicle

Say goodbye to chain troubles and embrace the future of cycling with chain-less electric bikes. German company Schaeffler introduced the innovative “Free Drive” bicycle, which eliminates the traditional chain system and replaces it with a generator-powered mechanism. Now, CIP Group is set to launch their own version, featuring the cutting-edge “Mocci” Smart Pedal.

How does it work? As riders pedal, the attached generator converts their mechanical energy into electricity. This power is then utilized by a motor to drive the wheels, providing smooth propulsion. The excess energy is stored in the bike’s battery, ensuring efficient usage. Thanks to the generator’s intelligent design, riders can enjoy regulated resistance, preventing the need for excessive exertion.

One of the key advantages of chain-less e-bikes is their low maintenance requirement. Bid farewell to frequent lubrication sessions and embrace hassle-free riding. However, it’s worth noting that traditional bicycles still hold a slight efficiency advantage, with Free Drive versions being around 5% less efficient in converting pedaling motion into forward force. Nevertheless, the benefits of the system lie in its design flexibility, allowing for more creative e-bike designs and easy connectivity between the crankset and rear wheel via electrical wiring.

The Mocci bikes will feature a recyclable polyamide frame and one-piece monocoque wheels, ensuring durability and sustainability. Furthermore, they offer the option to attach a cargo trailer, making them ideal for urban deliveries and ride-sharing programs.

While CIP Group aims to cater to corporate clients, offering their chain-less e-bikes for ride-sharing schemes and urban applications, it’s only a matter of time before these innovative bicycles become available to individual riders. Get ready to experience the future of cycling, where pedal power meets eco-friendly efficiency.
