SUSTAINABLE ORIGAMI FOOD BOX

OrigamiFoodBox_001MichealleLee_720x541

This is a packaging for a quick service mobile eatery in Manila, Philippines called Guactruck. Inspired by origami, the packaging resembles a bud that blooms into a flower when opened. It was created with sustainability in mind, being only one piece of paperboard with no glue or plastic.

Visually appealing, sustainable, and ergonomic. The design uses origami techniques to form an enclosed shape resembling a bud that opens into a full bloomed flower, has a self-locking mechanism that eliminates the need for adhesive, and has a bowl-shaped base for easy grip and comfort when eating from it while standing or on the go. The graphics contains instructions and a message in morse code.

In order to be effectively sustainable, the physical design of the packaging has to become part of a system. So we also designed a loyalty scheme to make sure that the packaging goes to the proper channels instead of the landfills.
