PORTFOLIO: Dino Dimar

Filipino visual artist Dino Dimar holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts Major in Advertising from the University of Santo Tomas. He demonstrated his enthusiasm in cave photography when he built his thesis in college that landed him the title “Best Thesis” for photography.

Dino’s curiosity for indigenous peoples in the Philippines and its different cultures has brought him to different places. He eventually worked as a photographer and designer for the maiden issue of “Travel Time”.

His numerous journeys including that of Bontoc, Mountain Province took unexpected turn in 2014. The bus he was riding fell off a ravine- around 700meters deep. Dino sustained several injuries and suffered the loss of his closest friends in the tragic event.

A year later, he recovered and officially became part of Black Pencil Project. A non-profit organization that champions children’s education. He hauls school supplies up the mountains and other far flung areas to support their education and their dreams.

As a sign of gratitude for his second life, Dino continues to bring his advocacy through photography assignments around the Philippines.
